Welcome to Elemental Mystique! We handcraft crystal jewelry, apparel, and home decor for your unique journey. Our shop was established in December 2020 by three queer womxn – Haley (AKA Bean), Angie, and Haley (yes..two of us are named Haley).
Our Story
It all started over 10 years ago when the Haleys met in elementary school and quickly became inseparable. Over these years of friendship, they realized that their relationship was more than a shared passion for art and music – they’re also connected on a deep spiritual level (#twinflames). The Haleys began their spiritual journey early in life and have continued to grow and expand their spiritual consciousness on parallel paths.
In high school, the Haleys became close friends with Hannah, now our Director of Marketing. Hannah always had a talent for communications, social media, and staying up to date on all the latest news and trends. After enduring their high school years together, it was time for Haley, Hannah, and Bean to part ways as they began college.
During their college years, Haley was studying nutrition and psychology in San Luis Obispo, California at Cal Poly; Hannah was studying public relationships at San Jose State University; and Bean also found herself at San Jose State studying psychology after a year of college in Seattle, Washington. It was during this time that Bean met and quickly fell in love with her current partner and our lovely co-owner, Angie. A San Jose native, Angie had already completed her bachelor’s degree in business administration from San Jose State and was working full-time at a venture capital startup in the Bay Area. Angie and Bean developed strong feelings for each other quickly and, after a few dates, they were practically living together. While Bean was completing her degree, they had moved into a small apartment with Bean’s gorgeous cat, Gino.
A lot has happened since then! Today, Angie, Bean, Haley, and Hannah are living in different parts of the country but have come together to create Elemental Mystique. In Colorado, Angie and Bean are living in their new home with their fur-babies – Gino, Jasper (their rambunctious Sphinx cat), and Alli (their rescue pup). In California, Hannah is living in Northern California while Haley is living in Southern California (planning to move in with Angie and Bean soon)!
The inspiration for Elemental Mystique stemmed from their disappointment with current career options, or lack thereof, in the United States. As four womxn with a variety of identities – first-generation, queer, lesbian, gender nonconforming, Latinx, Filipino, etc. – it can be challenging to see hope in such a bleak world. Elemental Mystique’s vision is to foster hope, acceptance, and community through our consciously crafted art, apparel, and jewelry. Every item in our shop is made with intention and love from high quality, sustainable materials.
Our Values
Under the capitalist hand of our current American economy, creating an entirely ethical and sustainable business is not possible; however Elemental Mystique takes every step we can to offset the harms of running a business under American capitalism. We are forever grateful to the indigenous land on which we live, to the privileges which allowed us to earn college degrees and obtain the equity to start this business, to the space we take up as an American business, to the planet which provides us with the raw materials we use, and to the people whose labor brought these raw materials to us.
Elemental Mystique uses our platform as a small business to uplift historically silenced voices, promote resources that support our customers, advocate for environmental and social justice, and create a safe and accepting community for all to join. We do this thorough (1) reposting and highlighting stories of historically oppressed individuals and groups; (2) highlighting resources on our “Get Help” page; (3) only sourcing materials from fair-trade, environmentally-minded companies with an emphasis toward small, local, POC-owned, and LGBTQIA-owned businesses; and (4) creating community through our Instagram and Facebook pages and our Blog.
